- Cleaning Brush & The Steamer — You may think it’s obsolete in the days of dry cleaning, but a suit brush and a steamer go a long way to keeping your suit cleaner between cleanings. Before you brush your suit, let it air out near an open window then lay it flat for the brushing.
- Dry Cleaning — A general rule is to dry clean your garments every fifth go round. But most you can get away with once a year if cared for properly with a brush and steam.
- Umbrella — If you happen to own a suit with any fused lining or parts, you need to use an umbrella to avoid unnecessary damage to your clothing. Not to mention it’s traditional use as a rain deflector.
- Hangers — Your hangers that are reserved for suits should be thick in the shoulder and a strong metal hook. A suit hanger should also be broad and shaped enough support your jacket like it naturally hangs from you.
- Some Rules for Longevity — Avoid hanging your suit jacket or sport coat from the back of a chair, bed post, and wire hangers.
- Try not to wear your suit to the beach or any other risky environments.
